The Hobonichi Pencil Board is always among the most popular accessories for the Hobonichi Techo. The boards come in three sizes to match any of the techo books (each sold separately), with each one providing a sturdy and comfortable writing surface so you can use a ballpoint pen without making indents on the page below.

For this 20th edition of the Hobonichi Techo, we’ve gathered all kinds of new designs for the Hobonichi Pencil Board lineup. (Counting each size separately, there are 20 types total.)

The front shows Astro Boy in various expressions (you can find Uran too). The holographs that sparkle anytime you use it add an exciting touch.

Gurunpa’s Kindergarten is a beloved children’s book from over 50 years ago, first released in 1965. The longtime favorite book was written by Minami Nishiuchi and illustrated by Seiichi Horiuchi.

We created pencil boards featuring illustrations from the book, with each size using a different drawing.

 Keeping it underneath the page you’re writing on allows the reinforcement to provide an enjoyable writing experience. They fit perfectly to the size of the techo book, and will prevent your pen from sliding on the page, and not leave indentations on the opposite page. By keeping it in your techo, the tab on the corner will mark the current page you’re on for easy access.

Illustrator Hiroko Kubota created this art piece called “Aurora Duty.” It was featured on the Hobonichi Techo 2023 English Weeks book cover, and now it’s available on a Drawer Pouch.

The artwork depicts a quiet night in a distant northern country, with a polar bear waving an enormous flag. It appears that it’s the bear’s turn tonight to draw an aurora across the sky, for Aurora Duty. The back of the pouch shows one more bear pulling along a warm drink on a sled. The beautiful aurora sparkling across the night sky uses glitter for effect.

This decorative tape lets you decorate your techo easily and cutely by simply sticking the tip to the surface you want to put the pattern on and pulling it like correction tape. You can use it to accent where you’ve written plans for the day or draw a line with it to make a section of the page stand out.

Because Deco Rush is a tape, it doesn’t have the unevenness of ink or show through the other side of the page. It also doesn’t have a thickness to it, so your book won’t become thick from it.

Use this product on a flat surface for best results. We recommend using a pencil board underneath the page to provide a flat surface. The Deco Rush tape works best when applied to smooth surfaces. The key is to hold it almost perpendicular to the paper and make sure the roller at the tip is in close contact with the paper.
